SURVIVING PROGRESS
HAWAII PREMIERE
United States 2011 | English | 86M
DIRECTOR: Mathieu Roy, Harold Crooks
CAST: Margaret Atwood, Enio Beata, Colin Beavan
Sunday, April 15 – 12:15 PM

Based on Ronald Wright’s best-seller “A Short History of Progress” this intelligent, provocative documentary explores the concept of progress in our modern world, guiding us through a sweeping but detailed survey of the major “progress traps” facing our civilization in the arenas of technology, economics, consumption, and the environment. Featuring powerful arguments from such visionaries as Jane Goodall, Margaret Atwood, Stephen Hawking, and Ronald Wright himself, this enlightening and visually spectacular film invites us to contemplate the progress traps that destroyed past civilizations and that lie treacherously embedded in our own.

THE BIG FIX
HAWAII PREMIERE
United States 2012 | English | 89M
DIRECTOR: Josh Tickell, Rebecca Haris Tickell
Thursday, April 19 - 7:30 PM

On April 22, 2010 the Deepwater Horizon offshore drilling rig run by BP sunk into the Gulf of Mexico creating the worst oil spill in history. Until the oil well was killed on September 19, 779,037,744 liters of crude oil and over 7, 000,000 liters of chemical dispersant spread into the sea.
By exposing the root causes of the spill filmmakers Josh and Rebecca Tickell uncover a vast network of corruption.
The Big Fix is a damning indictment of a system of government led by a powerful and secretive oligarchy that puts the pursuit of profit over all other human and environmental needs.
